Jazz Sings the Blues – Scotty Wright Quintet

February 27 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

$25.00

Jazz singer Scotty Wright returns to the Carter G Woodson African-American Museum in St Petersburg Florida, for a special concert celebrating Black History Month: Jazz Sings the Blues.

From big band swing to rock n roll to pop, the blues has been a key foundation of American music – especially jazz music. Although many believe that one gave birth to the other,  jazz and blues are actually cousins – different branches of the same family tree.

The Scotty Wright Quintet presents a varied program of the blues, seen and heard and felt from a jazz perspective, with source material provided by:

BB King /  Charles Brown /  Willie Dixon  / Robert Johnson  /  Charlie Parker  /  Duke Ellington  /  Buddy Johnson  / W.C. Handy

James Suggs – trumpet  /  Judi Glover – piano  /  Joe Porter – bass  / Rod Alnord – drums  /

Scotty Wright – voice
